The practice
A migration is not a copy. It is an upgrade.
Copying data from an old system to a new one copies every flaw along with it. SureSoft® treats migration differently: the move is the moment to improve the data — normalizing data (“foot,” “feet,” “ft,” and “FT” become one value), removing duplicates, and retiring incomplete records — so the new system starts with a foundation the old one never had.
The work is automated end to end. Automation is what makes the improvement possible at scale — millions of records cleaned and verified in a single pass, repeatably, with every decision recorded.
Migration almost always means changing the shape of the data — a new schema, a new object model, new rules. Simple template or XSLT-style transformations reject every record that doesn't fit. SureSoft's transformations are context-aware: when a record resists transformation, the migration searches related data and reviews aggregate information to validate the right answer — and each resolution becomes a migration rule, so the next thousand records like it pass automatically. What a template would throw away arrives intact.
Before a single record moves, SureSoft runs its own referential integrity checks across the source — surfacing orphaned references and broken relationships early enough to solve them in transit, not discover them in production.
The moving target
The hardest part: the data changes every day.
Complex, very large migrations do not happen against a frozen snapshot. The business keeps running, and the source data keeps changing — every day of the migration. Handling that safely is where most migrations struggle, and where three decades of practice show.
SureSoft's answer is automation with discipline: incremental passes that pick up what changed, quality gates that guarantee newer work is never overwritten by older data, and integrations built alongside the migration so the old and new systems stay coherent until cutover.
When the window is tight, rehearsal is the answer. SureSoft has migrated 100 million records inside a single service window — because the production run was preceded by several practice pushes on staging infrastructure. By the time it counted, the migration had already succeeded several times.
